Day 1 on Nutrisystem

Weight: 285 (I KNOW! I have neglected myself too long. This is why I am taking this step!)

Today was not a good day for me to start a weight loss program, but I did not want to delay any longer. Why not a good day? Aunt Flow is only a few days away, and I am RAVENOUS! I know being this heavy is detrimental to my health, and I can't keep making excuses. So, here I go!

Breakfast:
Nutrisystem Chocolate Chip Scone: small, but tasty
7 egg whites
coffee with nonfat dry milk and artificial sweetener
I skipped the optional SmartCarb  for until later

Morning Snack:
Activia Blueberry Yogurt

Lunch:
Nutrisystem Vegetable Beef Soup *I ignored the microwave and boiling cooking methods and cooked this in a small saucepan. The amount of soup in the cup didn't even cover the bottom of the pot.
2 cups of yellow squash

Afternoon Snack: (I was extremely hungry at this point!)
2 cups spinach
1 celery stalk with 1/2 tbsp ranch dressing
I waited 20 minutes and added:
1 Nutrisystem Creamy Chocolate Protein Drink (15 grams of protein)
I waited to see if that would make me feel better. It didn't, so I added:
1 cup Splenda sweetened coffee with nonfat milk *This was gross and I only choked down 3/4 of it.

Dinner:
Nutrisystem Flatbread Pizza *I could barely see this; it was so small. It just made me angry.
3 cups yellow squash
1/2 cup collards

A few hours later, I was very hungry, weak, tired, and could barely move. I added a Nutrisystem Creamy Chocolate Protein Shake

Dessert:
Nutrisystem Double Chocolate Almond Cookie *This was tasty, but tiny.

I started feeling very weak and tired, so I added:
Banana
celery with ranch dressing

After about an hour, I had no relief from the weak feeling. I looked on Nutrisystem's message boards and searched the internet. After just a few minutes of reading, I noticed this was not uncommon and followed the recommendations to add protein and a carbohydrate. I tried to contact the support on their website, but the system kept shutting down.

I chose to eat:
3 egg whites
1 Nature's Own Specialty 12 grain bread slice

I felt much better after this.

I tracked my meals in SparkPeople.com's free online tracking program and these were the results (followed by SparkPeople's recommendations):

Calories: 1752 (2300-2650)
Carbs: 207 (259-431)
Fat: 48 (51-103)
Protein: 132 (60-232)

  1. The first several months of my site there were no comments; just give it time; now they come in like crazy every day! Thanks.
